B2B Data Policy

Last updated: 14 July 2026

This B2B Data Policy forms part of our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. It explains how Yotta Prospecting Centre ("Yotta", "we", "us", or "our") sources, processes, and manages business-to-business (B2B) lead data through the platform, in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA").

1. Sources of B2B Data

Yotta generates B2B leads from publicly available sources where business contact information is voluntarily published by the business or its representatives. These sources include:

  • Google Maps business listings: publicly listed business names, phone numbers, addresses, and websites;
  • LinkedIn company and professional profiles: publicly visible professional names, job titles, and company affiliations;
  • Facebook business pages: publicly listed business contact details and page information.

We only collect information that is already publicly accessible. We do not access private accounts, circumvent login restrictions, or use deceptive methods to obtain contact information.

2. Lawful Basis for Processing

The B2B lead data processed through the platform consists of publicly listed business information. Businesses that publish their contact details on public platforms are reasonably expected to receive business inquiries. Yotta processes this information on the basis that it is publicly available and that the data subject has made the information public, as permitted under POPIA. The Customer remains responsible for ensuring that its use of the data, including any marketing or outreach, is conducted lawfully and in accordance with applicable marketing regulations.

3. How We Collect Data

Yotta uses AI-assisted discovery to identify publicly listed business contacts that match the search criteria specified by the Customer (such as industry, location, and company size). The platform collects the publicly available contact details, validates email addresses and phone numbers, and removes duplicates. The Customer controls the search parameters and decides which leads to save to their account.

4. Data Quality and Validation

To support responsible outreach, the platform provides the following data quality measures:

  • Email validation: email addresses are checked for format validity and domain deliverability (MX record verification);
  • Phone validation: phone numbers are checked for structural validity;
  • Duplicate removal: duplicate leads are identified and flagged to prevent repeated contact;
  • Enrichment scoring: leads are scored based on data completeness to help the Customer prioritise outreach.

Yotta does not guarantee the accuracy, currency, or deliverability of any specific lead. The Customer should independently verify contact details before relying on them.

5. Customer Responsibilities

The Customer is solely responsible for how it uses, stores, and contacts leads generated through the platform. The Customer agrees to:

  • Conduct outreach in a manner that respects the data subject's right to privacy and complies with POPIA, the Consumer Protection Act, and applicable marketing regulations;
  • Include an unsubscribe or opt-out mechanism in all marketing communications sent to leads;
  • Honour opt-out requests promptly and remove opted-out contacts from future campaigns;
  • Not use lead data for purposes that are incompatible with the purpose for which it was collected;
  • Not resell, sublicense, or redistribute lead data to third parties without a lawful basis;
  • Take responsibility for the accuracy of any business description or targeting criteria it provides to the platform.

6. Data Retention

Lead records saved by the Customer are retained until the Customer deletes them or their account is closed. Yotta recommends that Customers review and delete outdated lead records periodically. Inactive lead data associated with closed accounts is deleted in accordance with our standard retention schedule.

7. Data Subject Rights

Individuals whose contact information appears in lead data retain their rights under POPIA, including the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information, and the right to object to processing. If a data subject contacts the Customer directly to exercise these rights, the Customer is responsible for fulfilling the request. If a data subject contacts Yotta, we will forward the request to the relevant Customer and assist where reasonably possible.

8. Unsubscribe and Opt-out

All email campaigns generated through the platform include an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribe requests are processed and added to a suppression list to ensure opted-out contacts are excluded from future campaigns. The Customer must honour unsubscribe requests in accordance with POPIA and applicable marketing regulations.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this B2B Data Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a revised "last updated" date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
